Why Lake Norman Homeowners Choose Total Garage

Lake Norman is the largest manmade body of fresh water in North Carolina, and the garages around its shoreline see a different daily load than inland Charlotte garages. Boats come in for off-season storage, lake gear cycles in and out weekly, and floors get wet from trailer drips and equipment. We specify polyaspartic topcoats for UV and water resistance, corrosion-rated hardware, and overhead storage that lifts off-season equipment out of the active work zone. Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Mooresville, Sherrills Ford, and Denver are all part of our weekly Lake Norman route.

Lake Norman Garage Storage Questions

What floor coating system holds up best in a Lake Norman garage?
We specify a polyurea base with a polyaspartic topcoat over a decorative chip broadcast for almost all Lake Norman projects. The polyurea adheres aggressively to prepared concrete and resists thermal shock. The polyaspartic topcoat resists UV yellowing and water damage from trailer drips, wet boat covers, and jet ski hauling.
Can the cabinetry survive lakefront humidity year-round?
Yes. Heat-fused melamine cabinet boxes are stable in humid environments and outperform stained wood or painted MDF. Hardware in brushed chrome, oil-rubbed bronze, or black powder coat is corrosion-rated. We typically recommend solid-color or metal-pattern finishes for lakefront garages over wood-pattern finishes for long-term color stability.
Do you handle off-season boat storage layouts?
Yes. A common Lake Norman layout puts cabinetry along one long wall, slatwall above the workbench on the opposite wall, and the bay center reserved for trailer parking from October through April. Overhead racks above the bay door hold lake gear in the boating off-season.
How fast can you start a project around Lake Norman?
Consultations are typically scheduled within five business days for any zip in the Lake Norman service area. From consult to final walkthrough is four to six weeks for a full cabinet project, two to three weeks for a floor-only project.
Do you serve both the NC and SC sides of the lake?
Lake Norman is entirely in North Carolina, but we hold contractor licenses in both NC and SC, so adjacent SC clients (Lake Wylie, York County) are also part of our service area. The Lake Norman shoreline itself spans Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Catawba counties on the NC side.
Can you coordinate with the dock or boat lift contractor for a full lakefront project?
We do not install docks or boat lifts directly. We do coordinate scheduling with dock contractors so the garage work and the dock work do not stack on top of each other. Most Lake Norman clients bundle a garage refresh with annual dock maintenance in the spring or fall shoulder seasons.
